The Importance of Water Consumption in Ramadan

WATER IS THE FIRST CONDITION OF HEALTH IN RAMADAN

In the month of Ramadan, when our spirituality is at its highest, many of us fast to fulfill our religious obligations. In these days when we are hungry for long hours, it is more important than ever to protect our health and body resistance. Experts point out that in order to meet the body’s water needs, it is necessary to consume plenty of water before fasting.

Healthy eating is one of the most important issues during Ramadan. In order to fulfill the fasting worship in a healthy way, the role of proper nutrition in iftar and sahur is great. Fasting, which is stated by many experts to be beneficial for human metabolism, can unfortunately invite chronic diseases with nutritional mistakes to be made in this process. The first thing to do to prevent this is to prevent the body from being dehydrated.

Preparation is Important

It is very important to prepare the body for fasting by drinking plenty of water not only during Ramadan but also before Ramadan. The better we prepare our body, the easier it will be for us to prevent issues such as chronic headaches and fatigue experienced during Ramadan, and to get through Ramadan healthily and easily. Ramadan preparation should be done by drinking plenty of water, not by eating less as most of us do.

At least two and a half liters

During Ramadan, the body’s need for fluid increases even more. For this reason, it is of great importance to drink water at regular intervals with iftar in order to replace the liquid required after long-term fasting. Consumption of at least 2.5 liters of water per day during Ramadan helps both your digestive system and your immune system. Another trick is the temperature of the water you drink. Since cold water causes contractions in the stomach and makes digestion difficult, it can cause indigestion. For this reason, it is more ideal for your body that the water you drink during the month of Ramadan is at room temperature.

Tea-Coffee-Fizzy Drinks Are Not a Preference for Thirst

Although we like to consume beverages such as tea, coffee and cola during the Iftar-Sahur interval, the caffeine in it can cause digestive problems as well as addiction when consumed chronically. In addition, with its diuretic effect, it accelerates the excretion of water from the body through the kidneys, causing water losses. Therefore, try to reduce caffeine and consume plenty of water instead.
